Background of the Study
In a country like Nigeria, where ethnic and religious diversity can lead to tensions, the role of advertising in promoting peace and unity is crucial. Kontagora LGA in Niger State is no exception, facing challenges related to ethnic and communal conflicts. In such contexts, advertising has the potential to play a transformative role in building bridges, encouraging dialogue, and promoting peace among diverse groups.
Studies by Usman et al. (2023) have demonstrated that peace-building advertising campaigns can be effective in fostering social cohesion by emphasizing shared values and common goals. The use of various media platforms to deliver messages of peace and unity has shown promise in conflict-prone regions. This study focuses on examining the role of advertising in promoting peace and unity in Kontagora LGA, exploring how advertisements can mitigate tensions and contribute to a harmonious community.
